| Things got deleted, so time to try a fresh approach....its like playing a world domination game....I'm taking fortress Canada by storm. I figure 30 or 40 drunken guys should be able to take Calgary and Edmonton in a not so lightning attack. Everyone is somewhat lethargic without hockey, so there is nothing to get fired up about. That should fix things....from there, we will sober up and take on the world, well, Vancouver anyway.
I don't think of myself as a normal person by any stretch of the imagination....anything that comes to mind usually ends up coming out of my face...or on the net, my fingers....ask me anything, I usually have an answer, just not always the right or most appropriate one
Other than the sweaty palms, knocking knees, a slight stutter and the complete lack of preparation, no one could ever tell I have a fear of public speaking. Maybe it has nothing to do with the fact that i will be doing an open mike night in the near future. Could also be because I will be forced to either keep it clean or keep my clothes on. I have been known to shuck my duds when I felt overdressed or under pressure.
Fact is, I don't want to scare the audience....they're paying good money to buy all the booze they're gonna need to sit thru my set. Besides, there is no local version of "Fear Factor" filming....which would be the only reason to stick around through a set by a masked naked comedian. Now that's not likely to happen, but it paints an interesting picture....not really good or bad. I do intend to do the open mike night, but I'm actually a little nervous.
Normally speaking in public doesn't bother me at all, but this time I have doubts. The material will be all my own, so the laughs, or lack thereof, will be down to my ability to write good material.
The stuff I normally write usually gets a good response, but the audience is made up of people I know and care about.....its friendly, but honest. The difference at the Tongue and Groove will be that the audience will be made up of people I have never met. That means all I have to go on is the strength of the material and my ability to make a good first impression...and the ability to get a laugh or two. Keep your fingers crossed or give me a good joke premise. Hope all goes well......
Taking over the world is a tough job, but I think I'm up to the task....all that energy that isn't getting spent on a social life has to go somewhere
