Ramble Jamble

Inspired by: J to the E to the N - N - Y.

and for no other reason can a fathom why i'd bother posting... ha.

lately, life has been interesting, and i've been pushed every direction, into a shell, where i can not only do no harm, but also have no harm done to me, pushed into the open, where parts of me are exposed that should never have been exposed... i've been dragged through this life, high and low, good and bad, better and worse... till death. but thats not what Ramble Jamble is all about.

We are uniquely individual. I used to think that eventually, one would attain enough knowlege that no more knowlege would be needed to continue to sustain yourself... everything you needed to surivive, everything you needed to know, about life, about people, you'd know. but it never gets to that point, does it?

Through all my interactions lately, I've discovered one important thing: of all the things I know, of everything I've learned, it's still just a fraction of what there is to know... even just about the other people on this planet...

Yes, for the most part, i can guestimate how someone will be, how they will react, and how they live... doesn't mean I'm right, nor does it mean that, that's where the story ends. In fact, a lot of the time, thats just the foundation for a much bigger, greater, more amazing story, of a journey through this life, and the interactions therein. The events leading up to now, and the reasons behind why someone would think they way they do.

It's amazing really.

In light of this, i'd like to present a situation of where it may be just as important to listen, and learn, as it may have been, to talk. We should all learn a lesson, if nothing else, that our ears, though neglected, are as important, if not more important, than what our mouth does...

The following, appropriately titled: "Different lives, Same moment", goes as follows.
----------------------------

So I had a conversation with a homeless guy yesterday. I don't say homeless lightly or with a demeaning connotation (or denoation, I forget the difference) Anyways, fact is he's homeless and I watched him for 20 minutes while walking from Metro Hall to the Subway on Younge Street.
Every surface he passed he touched. The top of marble walls, the sides of trees. And with each gust of wind he put out his arms and felt it. I found this intriguing.
Every time he turned back and saw me watching him I smiled. And he would whip right around and continue on, watching me from over his shoulder. My smiles continued as did my growing awareness of where I was and who I was interacting with. I can't say caution didn't pass through my head more then once, as did the option of staring at the ground. But I refused to back down. A personal conquest of sorts.

Anyways, a block away from my station he turned back and walked straight up to me. "We wear masks" he said. "Isn't it better not to" I countered. "The ark angels and charebs and yadda yadda yadda" he went on. I feel as though he could have talked forever and every time I tried to jump in and have a conversation I was cut off. Clealry he just wanted me to listen so I did. He showed me his soap carvings and told me about the troubles he's faced while trying to tell people about God. Eventually I smiled as we kept walking and said "this is my stop". As I climbed down to the station I smiled and said thank you. Thank you for my life off the streets, for my ability to talk AND listen and most of all thank you for all the beautifully weird, messed up, awesome, crazy, people we have on this beautifully weird, messed up awesome planet we have.
Including you.

------------------------------

Memorable words from a great person. whose exploits should be no less than engraved in stone and sold on the black market as chicken soup for the heart and soul of every living breathing being on this planet.

And though we all may have our times apart, remember to value when we're together... as you never know when this passing moment, may be our last.
